| Virtual Reality (VR) is one of the popular technologies nowadays. Researchers from the University of Hong Kong develop an innovative VR-based training and performance evaluation system for local logistics corporations. This project provides a fully immersive and automatic cave-like virtual environment featuring the aforementioned capabilities, which can be delivered in a cost-effective manner for training and evaluating the decision-making and high-order skills of professionals. The virtual reality training system developed represents a state-of-the-art design that capitalizes on virtual reality technology using artificial intelligence methods to deliver an integrated system that creates a versatile and reconfigurable, interactive and immersive training environment that readily supports evidence and discovery-based training in operations planning and decision making. The project helps address the important issue of training high-level management and technical professionals for making strategic decisions in critical operations of the logistics and services sectors, in a timely manner. Pilot implementation has been carried out in a leading air logistics company in Hong Kong. The pilot user agrees the developed training system is a safe, cost-effective and weatherproof solution. |
