                            Delegation visit from The Hong Kong Logistics Association (HKLA)
                                                                                                On 3 October 2017, 15 representatives from The Hong Kong Logistics Association (HKLA) visited LSCM R&D Centre. Dr Fan Ka Lun, Director of LSCM R&D Centre, introduced the Robotics Laboratory at Science Park to our guests. Our guests were updated with the robotic technologies related to logistics and supply chain.

                            Delegation visit from The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong
                                                                                                The LSCM R&D Centre received a delegation visit from the members of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong on 11 Aug. Our Chief Executive Officer, Mr Simon Wong expressed our warmest welcome to the visitors. The delegation group was introduced with the overview of LSCM technology. Some technology demos also showed to the visitors, including RFID Enabled navigation system for visually impaired, Product authentication system, RFID stock taking system, Robot follower, Dining cart and Virtual reality cave.

                            Delegation visit from Hong Kong Police College
                                                                                                The Centre received a delegation visit from Hong Kong Police Force on 9 May. The delegation group was introduced with the Centre’s latest research deliverables and achievements. They were especially interested in the new VR (Virtual Reality) Cave which can enhance training in the College.

                            Delegation visit from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries
                                                                                                On January 13, the LSCM R&D Centre received 14 members from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries led by Dr David Ho, Group 21 (Transport & Logistics Services Council) Chairman. Mr Simon Wong, Chief Executive Officer of the centre, extended the warmest welcome to the visitors. The centre’s development of core competencies in logistic and supply chain related technologies including Internet-of Things, Indoor Localisation, Tracking and Navigation , Robotics, etc. were introduced to the guests. At the same time, both sides have exchanged a lot of great ideas on future development in technologies.

                            LSCM’s Technologies Demonstration to Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Nicholas W. YANG
                                                                                                The LSCM R&D Centre was proud to demonstrate the enabling technologies for the elderly to Mr Nicholas YANG, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Wai-ping CHUNG and  Mr Wai-kit WONG from Tsuen Wan District while they visited Clague Garden Estate in Tsuen Wan on 9 December 2016.  Dr Frank TONG, Director, Research & Technology Department, introduced the LSCM’s technologies to them and the guests were excited about how RFID and elderly-friendly technologies, such as Home-stay Wellness Sensing System, Video Chatting System, Smart Poster and Smart Phonebook, improve quality of life of the seniors.

                            Deployment of LSCM’s technologies at the new “Hong Kong Society for the Blind Jockey Club Yan Hong Building”
                                                                                                The Hong Kong Society for the Blind’s Yuen Long Home was one of the first Government-subvented establishments to address the needs and strengthen the care for frail and visually-impaired elderly. The Home has recently been renovated with the support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to raise the living standard of the disadvantaged. On December 9, this new Hong Kong Society for the Blind Jockey Club Yan Hong Building was launched which the opening ceremony were officiated by Club Steward Dr Eric Li Ka Cheung; Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong SAR Government Carrie Lam; Chairman of The Hong Kong Society for the Blind Nancy Law and Chairman of The Hong Kong Society for the Blind Yuen Long Home Redevelopment Committee W P Lam. The LSCM R&D Centre’s RFID Blind Cane Navigation System is currently being used in the main lobby and the first floor which provides audible guidance to the visually impaired so that they will be led to the destinations via the shortest route. The Centre also developed an RFID-enabled information kiosk which is placed at the entrance of the patients’ room. The kiosk provides audible information to the visually impaired patients, such as location, weather information, daily activity schedule, etc.
