The Smart Barrier System enhances the effectiveness of the debris-resisting barriers built throughout the years by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) of the Hong Kong SAR Government. It allows real-time monitoring of falling debris and build-up, and uses a web platform and mobile app to issue alerts to the authority. This low cost, reliable, low-power consumption system ensures real-time detection of landslide impact on debris-resisting barriers.
