| In the daily operation of hospitals, the staff often needs to transport heavy items to different rooms and floors, it would be helpful to deploy robots with advanced technologies to enhance the work efficiency, reduce the manual labour for repetitive tasks and also improve occupational safety. LSCM has, therefore, developed the Smart Robotics Coordination System (SRoCoS) for Hospital Logistics, which includes an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) and a Robot Fleet Management System (RFMS), to enhance the efficiency of material delivery in hospitals. With special consideration for the deployment in hospitals, the AMR can adapt to various hospital-specific carts of different sizes, with a maximum load capacity of 200 kg. Moreover, the RFMS automatically coordinates the robots and elevators to carry out material transporting tasks. It can also handle special traffic situations, such as avoiding collisions with mortuary carts and hospital beds. The robots are not only capable of navigating in indoor and outdoor areas, slopes, and tactile paving; with the 3D LiDAR adopted, they are also capable of robust mapping, navigation and localisation. They can autonomously transform themselves to suit the limited spaces. Additionally, there is an open API that allows the integration of diverse third-party robots for unified control and management using only one RFMS system. The Smart Robotics Coordination System (SRoCoS) for Hospital Logistics is undergoing trial-use in the Tseung Kwan O Hospital to enhance the efficiency of materials delivery and reduce the workload of the staff. |
