Organised by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, the 2nd Annual Conference on Policy Research and Advocacy was held online on 18 March 2022, with the topic on “Forward and Onward: Challenges and Opportunities in data science and informing social services”. Experts from local social service, public health, academia, information technology, and share of experiences on their work and future possibilities of using big data in informing social services. Dr. Frank Tong, Director (Research and Technology Development) of LSCM, and Mr. David Chung, Senior Project Manager of LSCM, were speakers of the conference to share their insights about “Smart data infrastructure and big data analytics in Elderly Care”.

Organised by the Hong Kong Information Technology Industry Council and Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the HKITIC: Solution Day on Cybersecurity and Business Continuity was held at FHKI Conference Room & Exhibition Hall on 16 December 2021. Experts from government, industry and academia were invited to deliver their views regarding cybersecurity. More than 10 solution showcases were setup to display their technology and solution. LSCM took part in one of the solution showcases and demonstrate centre’s Tele-control Warehouse Stackers Using 5G. Visitors were interested in understanding the technology.  

School staffs and teachers from The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education visited LSCM Science Park office on 15 December 2021. Our colleagues prepared different technology demonstration, including Deliverbot, technologies for COVID-19, Tele-control warehouse stackers using 5G, voice control robotic arm, VR Cave, etc. Guests were interested and excited in understanding and trying the technologies.  

The Department of Electrical Engineering of City University of Hong Kong initiated the CityU EE Joint Lab Scheme to strengthen the collaboration with industrial associations, research centres, corporates, and organisations. LSCM is most excited to be one of the partner organisations of the Scheme. At the CityU EE Joint Lab Ceremony, Mr Simon Wong, Chief Executive Officer of LSCM, expressed his views towards the future collaboration with CityU to develop more industry-oriented innovation and technology, connect with the Greater Bay Area in technology development, and facilitate Hong Kong’s development as an international I&T hub.

Members from The Federation of Hong Kong Industries visited LSCM Science Park office on 16 November 2021. LSCM introduced and demonstrated some technologies regarding logistics and robotics to our guests, including Deliverbot, VR Cave, Tele-control Warehouse Stackers Using 5G, Follow-me Robots, Autonomous Guided Vehicles, etc.  

Jointly hosted by the Government of the HKSAR and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and co-organised with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, the GIES was the largest gerontechnology public education event in Hong Kong which provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss and form collaboration for broader adoption of gernotechnology. At the Expo, LSCM showcased a number of the Centre’s latest gerontechnology. Visitors were attracted to the LSCM booth to experience and learn about the Smart Service Robot, Robo-9, 3D LiDAR Bed Monitoring System and Tele-practice platform, etc.
